Privacy policy
Civics Go · Last updated October 26, 2026
Civics Go has no account and no tracking. Your study data stays on your device. If you buy Civics Go Pro on the web, Polar handles the payment and keeps your email address so you can restore your purchase.
Civics Go is the web app at civicsgo.app and the Civics Go iPhone app. This policy covers both.
What we collect
Nothing when you study for free. Civics Go has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting, and we do not sell or share data with anyone. The only personal information involved is what you give when you buy Civics Go Pro on the web; see Purchases.
What stays on your device
- Your answers, scores, streaks and study plan.
- Your settings, such as your language, theme, interview date and filing date.
- Answers you write down for your N-400 practice.
In the iPhone app this is stored only in the app; deleting the app deletes it. On the web it is stored only in the browser you study in (its local storage); clearing that browser's site data deletes it. It is never sent to us.
Purchases
- On the web. Civics Go Pro is sold by Polar Software, Inc., our reseller and merchant of record, which takes the payment and handles sales tax. To do that, Polar collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details, and your IP address and country for tax and fraud checks, under Polar's privacy policy. We never see your card. After you pay, our server at civicsgo.app receives your Polar customer number and email address once, to unlock Pro, and keeps neither: your browser keeps a signed key that names your Polar customer number. About twice a day the app asks our server, which asks Polar, whether your purchase is still active, so a refund or a cancelled subscription ends Pro.
- Restoring on another browser. When you enter your email to restore Pro, our server asks Polar whether that email bought Pro. If it did, we email you a 6-digit code through Resend, which handles the email address only to deliver the message, under Resend's privacy policy. We do not store your email address or the code.
- In the iPhone app. Civics Go Pro is bought through Apple. Apple handles payment; we never see your card or Apple Account details. The app only checks with Apple whether Pro is active.
When Civics Go uses the internet
- Current officeholders. When it opens, Civics Go asks biamax.app for the names of the current President, Vice President, Speaker of the House and Chief Justice, so its answers stay right after elections. The request carries nothing about you.
- Looking up your officials. If you enter a ZIP code, Civics Go sends only that ZIP code to biamax.app, which looks up your representative, senators and governor on house.gov, usa.gov and the public list of current senators, and sends the names back. We do not store or log your ZIP code. If biamax.app can't be reached, the iPhone app asks those sites directly; they have their own privacy policies.
- Speech recognition. When you answer out loud, your voice is turned into text. On an iPhone this usually happens on the device; if it can't, Apple processes the audio under Apple's privacy policy. On the web your browser does it with its own speech service: Chrome sends the audio to Google, Edge to Microsoft and Safari to Apple, under their privacy policies. We never receive your recordings. You can always choose Type instead.
- Hosting. civicsgo.app and biamax.app are served by Cloudflare, which handles each request, including your IP address, to deliver the pages. We have not turned on any logs or analytics of our own.
- The civicsgo.app home page. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google. The TikTok quiz videos load from TikTok only when you tap one; from then on TikTok's privacy policy applies to that video.
Permissions
The microphone and speech recognition are used only while you practice answering out loud. On an iPhone, notifications are used only for the study reminders you choose; on the web, reminders are a calendar event you add yourself. You can turn the microphone off in the iPhone Settings app or in your browser's site settings.
Children
Civics Go is made for adults preparing for naturalization and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
